As someone who always sees a silver lining, now could be a great time to tackle those home or yard projects you’ve wanted to get to someday. Particularly if you might be thinking of making a move in the next couple of years. Here are a few upgrades or repairs to consider:

  • Fix or replace anything that is damaged or worn such as patio and deck, gutters and eaves, windows, shutters, screens, storm doors, light fixtures, porches and steps, walkways and fences.

  • Touch up all exterior paint - particularly anything that is peeling.

  • If needed, re-paint the house.

  • Fix doorbells, tighten loose doorknobs and oil squeaking hinges.

  • Clean or paint front door and polish front door hardware.

  • Replace “Welcome” mat.

  • Begin Spring garden clean up! Rake and clear out any leftover fall/winter debris! Toss any broken yard furniture or decor

  • Clean out the garage or garden shed!

Inside the House

  • Fix or replace cracked moulding or floor tiles.

  • Repair any leaking plumbing, taps and or loose toilets.

  • Tighten and repair loose door knobs or squeaky door hinges.

  • Tighten toilet seats.

  • Replace your home thermostat with a programmable or even a "smart” one such as Google Nest or ecobee.
